0Planning an eco friendly wedding is like planning any other event. There will be food, entertainment and decoration and guests will arrive. There will be a great deal of coordination and planning involved with other people, and of course delegating the right tasks to the right people. Making your wedding day more socially just and sustainable is a chance to make a difference and show others that weddings can be a force for good. I chose to have a sustainable wedding because i wanted that special day to reflect our values as a couple and a family and take on the challenge of having a wedding that was fun, traditional and yet socially responsible.

0So how do environmentally conscious people socialize? They come to Green Drinks!
Green Drinks is an international phenomenon where like minded individuals meet up every month. Usually there are one or two speakers who share their experience and ideas for sustainable living and environmental responsibility followed by a lot of networking. The Lahore Chapter was started by PSN seven months ago and now, it is coming up again, with an even greater impact on November 29, 2011 at Nairang Art Gallery.
This month we have once again got some very interesting speakers. One of the speakers will be from Wateen’s HR who will be presenting on Wateen’s Green Practices as a company – a great opportunity to learn about leadership and social responsibility practised by the company.

A Date with Nature
0With the slogan ‘Come celebrate our home, the only one we have’ PSN in collaboration with Waste Busters organised an Earth Day Carnival at Aitchison College, Lahore.
April 22nd, was a perfectly bright Friday looked forward to by a large crowd of Lahore representing different segments of the society. From children to professionals and schools such as Lahore Grammar School, STEP, Laurelbank Public School and Sanjan Nagar School, everyone had gathered on Aitchison grounds to enjoy the carnival. This year’s theme ‘Billion Acts of Green’ had something of interest for everyone. The Earth Carnival had to be interactive and fun just like the Mother Earth itself bringing us endless opportunities to make our lives valuable.
Schools’ recycling competition, arts and crafts exhibition using recycled material and environmentally friendly themes, games and numerous other fun filled artistic activities were planned to keep the young decision More >

Back in October PSN founders Nimra and Kurt met with the Apna Arsh Pakistan Founder Aeyesha to discuss the need for more environmental networking in Lahore and Pakistan. This is where the idea began to bring an international open-source movement to Pakistan. This platform is already happening in hundreds of cities all over the world, and it has been responsible for bringing groups and ideas together, and helping to aid the collaborative solution oriented approach that citizens, businesses, non-profits, student groups and more are leading.
The only challenge was: Where to host it? Most Green Drinks happen in informal pubs or watering holes that attract every shape of crowd to gather and talk about all things green. 3World Environment Day, commemorated each year on 5 June, is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action.
The World Environment Day slogan for 2010 is Kick the Habit! Towards a Low Carbon Economy. Recognizing that climate change is becoming the defining issue of our era, UNEP is asking countries, companies and communities to focus on greenhouse gas emissions and how to reduce them. The World Environment Day will highlight resources and initiatives that promote low carbon economies and life-styles, such as improved energy efficiency, alternative energy sources, forest conservation and eco-friendly consumption.
