ecoFilms: AGE OF STUPID
Summary: The Age of Stupid explores the critical threshold we’re at in history – when, we were aware that we were destroying the planet, but did little to stop it. The film focuses on six narrative human stories: an Indian entrepreneur bent on setting up a low-budget airline, an octogenarian French mountain guide who has witnessed the swift erosion of the glacier he loves, a Katrina hurricane victim and oil worker, a Nigerian woman and the effects of Shell on the country, an Iraqi family that are now refugees in Jordan, and a British wind-energy developer who tries to persuade other people in his village to support the construction of local turbines
Interesting Fact: For the premiere, filmmakers went all out to create a green environment. The event was held in a special tent in and was dubbed “the world’s first solar-powered film premiere.”
Quote: “We could have saved ourselves, but we didn’t. It’s amazing. What state of mind were we in, to face extinction and simply shrug it off?”
